How to get rid of mosquitoes in bedroom at night

The arrival of heat has brought with it, as every year, the appearance of mosquitoes and, with them, their annoying bites. Although there are many and varied products that we can find in the market to repel these insects, there are also home remedies that can help us keep them away from our skin and away from our homes.

In these lines we explain several homemade tricks that you can put into practice to repel mosquitoes naturally:

Lemon and cloves

To apply it, you must place half a lemon with a few cloves punctured by the window of your room. In this way, mosquitoes will not dare to enter. Another option with the same products is to make an infusion with them and mix them with a baby shampoo. Apply the paste you get for the body and the pecks will be history.

Although it may not be ‘vox populi’, this popular digestive product is also a good remedy for repelling mosquitoes. Try mixing one liter of water and 200 grams of chamomile. Boil the water and the flowers for half an hour and when it cools, rub the liquid over the body.

Aromatic oils

This concentrated product is also a good option to keep mosquitoes out of the walls of our house. In the market you can find many types, but the most effective are citronella, lavender, eucalyptus, lemon, almond or rosemary. You can try, for example, to throw a few drops on your neck or in your pajamas so that these insects do not approach you during the night. Another alternative is to soak some cotton balls in one of these oils and place it inside a jar in the room where you do not want insects to approach.

Scented candles

Mosquitoes do not have a special predilection for the smell that these products give off. The most effective are those of citronella, which has proven to be one of the most effective remedies to combat these pesky insects.

Aromatic herbs

Mint, basil, rosemary or bay are also useful for repelling mosquitoes. It is best to plant them in a pot and place it near a window or door so that the insects can move away with their scent.

Peel and cut several cloves of garlic and put them in a bowl with a little water. Leave to macerate a few hours and then use this water to spray the house.

To scare away mosquitoes you can also place a glass with vinegar in the window. The smell will make the insects dare not cross the threshold between the window and your house. This remedy also works if you use half a lemon or scrub your juice through your skin.

Having plants like petunias, calendula, geraniums or lavender will also help us to keep these insects away, since by their smell they become a natural anti-mosquito repellent.

Mosquito nets

Although it sounds obvious, it is one of the most effective remedies to keep mosquitoes away from home. Placing mosquito nets in the windows will allow us to combat the rigors of heat while preventing the entry of insects.

Bottle catches mosquitoes

This homemade invention can also be a good option to combat the presence of mosquitoes. To create this trap you must mix 50 grams of sugar with 200 ml of water and bring it to boil for 10 minutes. Let it cool and introduce the mixture in a plastic bottle of a liter and a half divided in half. Then add 10 grams of yeast, fresh or powder. Insert the other half of the bottle (that of the mouthpiece) into the other half looking down, as if it were a funnel. In a short time it will begin to generate carbon dioxide and the smell of fermentation will attract mosquitoes, which will be trapped in the trap .
